About
David Bernard, LCSW
The relationship between client and therapist is one of the most important parts of therapy. Feeling comfortable, understood, and accepted lays the foundation for meaningful change. My goal is to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you can speak openly, gain clarity about the challenges you're facing, build on your own strengths, and work collaboratively toward treatment goals.
Choosing a therapist is an important and personal decision. Finding someone who feels like the right fit for you is an important first step.
I became a therapist because I enjoy helping people. It is a privilege to work alongside my clients as they face difficult challenges and pursue the changes they want to make.
I earned my Master of Social Work from Tulane University and am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Louisiana. My clinical experience includes working in the Functional Restoration Program for chronic pain at Ochsner Health and as a therapist in the Department of Psychiatry at Tulane University School of Medicine. Today, I provide counseling and psychotherapy for adults facing a wide range of life challenges and mental health concerns.
Before entering the mental health profession, I spent several decades as a broadcast meteorologist covering some of the worst storms and disasters of our time. Witnessing people navigate crisis, loss, and recovery profoundly shaped my understanding of human struggle and the remarkable capacity people have to adapt and persevere.
If you're considering therapy, I offer a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation. It's an opportunity for us to discuss what brings you to therapy, answer any questions you may have, and determine whether we're a good fit for working together.
